Refund Policy

Your first report is always free. For paid reports at $9.99, we offer refunds within 24 hours of purchase if the report was not successfully generated or downloaded. Once a report has been successfully downloaded, we are unable to offer refunds as the digital good has been delivered.

1. Free Reports

Your first property condition report is provided completely free of charge. No payment is required, and therefore no refund is applicable. There is no credit card required to access your first free report.

2. Paid Reports โ€” General Policy

Shield My Deposit sells digital goods (PDF property condition reports) at $9.99 per report. Because these are digital products that are immediately accessible upon payment, our general policy is that all sales are final once the report has been successfully generated and downloaded.

This is consistent with standard digital goods policies under applicable consumer protection laws, including exemptions for digital content under EU and UK consumer rights regulations once digital content has been made available.

3. When We Do Issue Refunds

We will issue a full refund in the following circumstances:

  • Technical failure: If you completed payment but were unable to generate or download your report due to a technical error on our platform
  • Double charge: If you were charged more than once for the same report due to a payment processing error
  • Unauthorized charge: If a charge was made without your authorization (please also contact your card issuer)
  • Request within 24 hours: If you request a refund within 24 hours of purchase AND have not successfully downloaded the generated report

4. When We Do Not Issue Refunds

We are unable to offer refunds in the following situations:

  • The report was successfully generated and downloaded to your device
  • You changed your mind after downloading the report
  • The request is made more than 24 hours after purchase (except for technical failures)
  • The report does not meet your expectations for format or appearance (the report format is displayed clearly before purchase)
  • You entered incorrect property information โ€” you are responsible for accuracy of information you provide

5. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, contact us within 24 hours of your purchase at:

Please include:

  • Your order ID or transaction reference (from your Paddle receipt email)
  • Email address used at checkout
  • Reason for the refund request
  • Screenshot or description of any technical error encountered (if applicable)

6. Processing Time

Approved refunds are processed within 5โ€“10 business days. The refund will be returned to the original payment method used at checkout. Refunds are processed by Paddle, our payment processor and merchant of record.

Depending on your bank or card issuer, it may take an additional 3โ€“5 business days for the refund to appear on your statement.

7. Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback with your bank or credit card company before contacting us, we may be unable to process a voluntary refund. We encourage you to contact us first at support@shieldmydeposit.com โ€” we are committed to resolving issues quickly and fairly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
